Made to love each other
I had to remind myself of these characters because I've been reading quite a bit college romances. Tyler was briefly mentioned in the first duet in the series, so not knowing much about him it was great to get to know him. Tyler Bank's showed what he wanted people to see because he grew up with people using him and it creates this friction when he met and fell for Chloe Robinson. Chloe sees herself in a specific light of an introvert and ridged rule follower, but Tyler shed light on just how perfect she is for him. Watching their chemistry explode during this road trip was to entertaining and fun to read. Great read, I need to go back and read Arlo's story.

Mariah Dietz is a new author to me, however after reading Exploring the Rules I’ve added the prior books from the series to my TBR. I really liked this book.
Exploring the Rules does feature characters from Ms. Dietz Brighton University football team and the Brighton University world, however this book is a very strong stand alone. You really don’t get a look into the team until the end, and it’s just enough of a perk to catch your curiosity.
Ms. Dietz writes a book about that summer when the Robinson twins take a cross country road trip with Chloe Robinson’s best friend Cooper and his other best friend Tyler.
The trip serves several purposes for this quartet. Chloe needs to attend an invite only event for astronomers in San Francisco. Cooper is hoping for more one on one time with Chloe’s twin Vanessa, who wants to spend more time with Cooper. Tyler is on a cross country jaunt so he can review several of his family’s high end hotels. Several that are flourishing and several that are struggling.
The only original issue in the trip is that Chloe really dislikes Tyler. He isn’t sure why. She sees him as a casual could care less college playboy. Whom she most likely has a crush on.
The drive begins with the four traveling from Florida to New Orleans. Not an outrageous leg of driving, yet enough for the reader to start solidifying the characters personalities and introduce their back stories.
Tyler isn’t the cool, care less, playboy he works to be seen as. His cool facade and his abrupt comments and actions hide his fear of losing his place in the family business, his father’s pride, and the fear of losing his last two years of freedom before he’s chained to the hotels. Cooper and Vanessa have finally reached their respective breaking points in their secret crushes on each other. Neither has acted on their feelings for years because of Chloe. Coop really IS Chloe’s best friend. Vanessa knows and respects this. As does Cooper. He has little family and the Robinson twins are a large key part of the family he has built. Both of these two are taking things cautiously afraid that the fall out will implode more than just them.
Chloe...Chloe is hiding secrets. Secrets that make her wish she was more like her twin. Secrets that make her flinch when she draws male attention. Secrets that will test her relationship with both her twin AND Cooper. The three of them have a no secrets pact for a reason and Chloe is breaking that one left and right.
Each person climbs into Tyler’s Tesla SUV with set opinions and ideas of the others. Each stop on the trip across the US either explains to the others what has caused character traits to settle in or blows away preconceived notions.
Such as when Tyler fires an employee in New Orleans for the way they treat Chloe, and rewards another for making Chloe’s day enjoyable. Tyler has conflicted feelings for Chloe that start to swirl from this first stop onward.
When the girls get lost in the desert in Arizona it isn’t only Cooper freaking out and panicking, Tyler is right there at the same level of panic that Cooper has. Possibly just a bit more than Cooper. Tyler is finally starting to allow himself to understand and believe that his friendship with the trio doesn’t come with strings or expectations.
Cooper and Vanessa’s romance takes off like a brush fire. Which it should given they’ve been circling these feelings for years and they both finally decide that enough is enough.
Chloe and Tyler’s relationship is slower to build and catch fire. Neither trusts easily. Chloe due to an incident that occurred during summer vacation and Tyler due to his upbringing and his life thus far.
The story truly is Chloe and Tyler’s with both steamy and heart touching moments where they are vulnerable and approachable to each other. Both understand the other better than they give themselves credit for. Both start smoothing out the rough and hurt edges in each other.
The flash point starts to build with Cooper and Vanessa uncovering the secrets Chloe has been holding in.
Vanessa and Cooper fracture off from Chloe, as they feel hurt and betrayed by her. Cooper in particular.
Then Tyler has to make a choice. Stay or leave. Chloe pushes him to leave and chase his dreams even if it means leaving her forever.
This is where you will need tissues. A lot of them.
Both Chloe and Tyler’s characters have a period of swift growth after the unveiling of secrets and Tyler’s abrupt departure from their group.
Me. Dietz finally gives our couples the happy endings they deserve and in a very clean manner. Not only that, she leaves us with this created family coming back together and growing stronger.

I haven't read the previous books of the series, but this can be read as a standalone. This was amazing that I need to get to reading the rest of the series. This is a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, and sports romance. What not to love? Those tropes are like winner tropes! And the author really did amazing with Tyler and Chloe's story! I loved their story. I'm for sure going to read more from the author!
Oh, man. I wish I would've read this a year or so ago when I zoomed through the first three in the series. Enemies to Lovers isn't really my thing and Tyler Banks wasn't one of the OG friend-group characters so I wasn't really interested. However, I read 2 disappointing books back to back before this one and I needed to return to an author that I knew wouldn't let me down. I'm so glad I did! Loved this one and, even though I'm having the same feelings about the next book in the series that I did before reading this one, I'm gonna give it a shot because I want to get to Paxton's book.

Enemies to Lovers? Sports Romance? Opposites Attract? Plus, a bit of steam? This one has got a little something for everyone. This book was a fast read and really fun. Perfect for the weekend, as it’s turning a bit colder here in Minnesota. When Tyler, a hot shot college football player and hotel heir, agrees to join his teammate on a road trip, he doesn’t anticipate falling for Chloe, the girl he’s tried to avoid for two years.

This book was adorable, I couldn't put it down. It was nice to have a standalone book centered around characters that were only briefly mentioned in the first three books. I wouldn't consider this necessarily an enemies to lovers book, more of two people trying to avoid each other because they like each other and finally giving up. There are some parts of it that make you laugh out loud and others that make you tear up. The characters in all of these books are so genuine and real and all being different, I can't wait to read the other three books
