I really enjoyed the latter half of this book especially the chapter now I have opinions. I feel like her take on ableism and the word disabled and how people view autistic people are actually quite good and well informed. I enjoyed the snippets of science and psychology that she has throughout the book. I didn’t enjoy the first half as much but that’s maybe because I don’t relate too much to how her autistic traits showed up when she was a child. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would considering what I’ve seen on tiktok.

This book was like having my entire childhood recounted to me by a ghost over my shoulder even down to the conversations between family and teachers. I'm extremely grateful to Paige for the courage it must have taken to share her entire life story as an autistic woman, it's done wonders for my imposter syndrome

It feels weird to say I enjoyed this book, given the amount of really rough life experiences in it, but nevertheless I enjoyed the reading experience and thought the book was very interesting. Happy to see that at the end she seems to have achieved at least some degree of peace, confidence, and self-understanding.
I thought it was pretty well paced - the chapters were a nice length for me to read and finish before bed, and each one had something substantial to give.
I liked the last couple of chapters at the end to summarize the author's thoughts, opinions, and advice. In particular, I found very powerful the page about her experience with ACT and the conclusions about how to handle emotions she got from it.

I tagged eating disorder not for any specific named eating disorder, but for mentions of autism-related issues with food, identifying hunger, and subsequent unhealthy thinness. Erring on the side of caution in case that triggers anything ED-related for someone.
