This was my least favourite instalment of the Stillhouse Lake series, which, after reading this, really should've ended as a duology. I guess Rachel Caine is going to try her hardest to keep this series ongoing for as long as she can due to its success, which is incredibly disappointing. Sometimes it's better to quit while you're ahead, and I hate seeing a story I originally loved get dragged out like this.

In the last book, we saw Gwen escape from death and finally put an end to Melvin Royal, her sadistic and murderous ex-husband who escaped from prison. In this book, we see Caine creating over-the-top scenarios for Gwen, Sam, and the kids to get involved with since their story died with Melvin in the last book.

The four of them- Gwen, Sam, Lanny, and Connor- should really just pack up and move to a town that isn't named after a body of water, since those seem to bring trouble.

If you like unbelievable scenes, big conspiracies, and a lot of dragged-out action, read this. If not, you're probably better of skipping it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rachel Caine for giving me a chance to read this book for an honest review. This book was read as a buddy read with Megan over at Coffee By the Novel.

If I could describe Wolfhunter River in one word, it would be suspenseful. It is so unnerving how addictive this read was. It was so consuming that I did not want to do anything else but read this book. I was on the verge of puking, my anxiety was through the roof and tears were definitely shed for my favorite character Sam Cade.

This is the 3rd novel in the Stillhouse Lake Series and it has been by far my favorite. Don't get me wrong I love that Gwen took her stand with her ex-husband in Killman Creek but I love how this book exploited why and who were really after Gwen and the children. It was interesting to see how her ex-husband Melvin was still sending them mail and packages from beyond the grave. And I knew the beloved Sam had played a role in plotting against Gwen at the beginning but it really intrigued me to see just how big his role actually was. Especially since he still decided to see the truth and the good in her. Caine provided the perfect twists and turns. She provided characters that you trusted and believed who turned out to be completely sinister and that is what I love reading about.

I am extremely excited for the 4th installment in the Stillhouse Lake Series called Bitter Falls. I am looking forward for more of Sam and Gwen's story because it's either going to be extremely fatal or a happily ever after. I have already pre-ordered it so I can have the complete series sitting on my shelves to be re-read whenever I need a good pick me up if ever I get in a reading slump.

If you have not read this series yet, please go purchase the books. You will not be disappointed.

I definitely wanted more for this book— I felt some good closure from Killman Creek, but I feel like this book is just a bridge between the next storyline for Gwen and her family. The mystery of Wolfhunter with a child abduction and missing women was very interesting and twisty, but against the backdrop of what the Proctor has already gone through— it just fell a bit flat. Overall still love this series, we’ll see what’s in store for the future.

It bounced around a lot & didn't really ever fall into a rhythm. In my opinion, this one wasn't as good as the first 2.

I know this one has mixed reviews but I actually like this one more than book 2. I like how book 2 wrapped up the main story line so I was unsure where this one was going to take us. But I liked how they tied in a totally new storyline to the old one. I thought it was a nice pivot without completely disregarding the past. I thought this was one was more page turning from beginning to end, I really was hooked. I also enjoyed the Lanny and Conner chapters way more in this book than in the last. The author did a great job of evolving their characters to become something I understood rather than became annoyed by. Loved this one.

Very much the same book as the first 2 and very repetitive. Completely unbelievable.
