Tense build-up that leaves you wanting more!
I loved this story - Counsell's writing is tense, on-point and doesn't shy away from the gut-punches. She brilliantly captures the prejudice already rife in our species, but gives a glimmer of hope that we can do better - just like her protagonist, even when she herself is given reasons prior and during the story's action to hate as well. Albeit faced with looming peril, her character displays an enviable strength and depth of character to do what is right, even when it's hard, representing the author's skill in creating complex, three-dimensional and compelling characters.
A ripping good story that I wished I could devour more of. Highly recommended!
