Unfortunately not impressed by these stories. Not leading anywhere and quite forgettable. Homes might be the better novelist. The one I read by her so far, I really liked.

Niet alle verhalen even bijzonder als de eerdere bundels, maar nog steeds een super prettige leeservaring!

I didn't care for all of the stories as much as her other collections, but I still have to give her 5 stars for sheer talent, audacity, and the connection I feel when I'm reading her work.

Some of the stories in this pretty book were a little too stream of consciousness for me. However, I loved and would recommend:
Days of Awe
The National Birdcage Show
The National Birdcage Show captures us barley listening to one another.

Stories that encapsulate in an often surreal way the life of middle America in the second half of the 20th century or the early years of the 21st. Often a Jewish perspective but sometimes not. Cage birds. Shopping malls. Not understanding men. Strange and unsatisfying.

Some truly brilliant stories, some not so good. But the prose, the prose, the prose.
