The casual misogyny and unnecessary bodily catalogues of the women in the story made this book hard to get through. I love the magic system and worldbuilding but I won't be continuing the series as I've been told the sexism continues throughout all of the books.
Graphic: Blood, Child abuse, Child death, Death, and Gore
Moderate: Fatphobia, Body shaming, and Sexism

There was so much fat shaming in this book. So very much. Also every scene had to be packed with action. If a guy is walking down the stairs, Brent Weeks had to make him almost fall over and die. That is; the action was often meaningless. The entire last quarter of the book was one big battle that I wasn’t totes clear on why they were fighting. Not the worst book, not the best.
Graphic: Fatphobia and Body shaming
Minor: Confinement and Misogyny
