My partner and I were obsessively reading this book together and finished it in a few hours. Loved the story, but the last 20% was difficult. The author just starts throwing information at you, and with so many characters involved in the story, it’s very difficult to keep everything straight when the big reveal comes. But overall, super unique and an enjoyable mystery!

now THIS is what i think strange pictures could've been!! crazy-ass denouement but one that's rooted entirely in things that could actually have happened. the supposed dying curse? the offering of the left hand? a family so scared of ghosts and crazed by grief that it caused everything? this book makes me feel ill (laudatory)

A fun, dark popcorn-style mystery that I read through in a day. Reads like a fun YouTube video essay and creepypasta rolled into one. The pace is snappy and it's a fairly light read, even though the subject matter is very dark. The plot is outlandish, but watching the puzzle pieces fall into place is very enjoyable.

I read this book in 2 hours. It’s a great quick read. I like the structure of this book, how the layouts of the houses are visible to allow the reader to get a feel for how eerie the houses are and how the dialogue between the characters is displayed. 

I thought the ending of this book wrapped up in a cute little bow, until I read the afterword. This felt like the book had an open ending to me, which I really enjoy. It gives me more to think about and allows me more ways to process the ending.
