The ending was really excellent and a cliff hanger, but the rest of this book was really boring. I feel like the last 2 chapters of this book could have just been added to the end of Ignite Me and there would be no difference in terms of plot.

I didn’t like the use of Juliette’s diaries at the beginning of chapters. It felt like over explaining the point that she carries extreme trauma.

I thought this was a 335 page book, but in fact it is almost the length of a novella due to the 2-3 page breaks used when changing between character povs at the end of each chapter.

i am shook??? the ending is kinda insane??? what the fuck is going on???

this book is even better than the last one, though ignite me is still my fav, tahereh keeps improving with time!! and my favorite is still kenji ofc. live love kenji. anyway!!

time for my favorite quotes!

-

“Hey!” Kenji shouts. “I am not here for this abusive relationship, okay?” He points at Warner. “I did not sign up for this shit!”

-

But it’s strange to see someone with my shared DNA speak so freely. To admit aloud his fears and shortcomings. It’s too raw, like looking directly at the sun. I have to look away.

-

“Hey—I’m right here.” He’s crossed the room in just a few strides, by my side in seconds.

“You’re coming with me, right?” I whisper, tugging at his sleeve like a child.

Kenji laughs. “I’ll be wherever you need me to be, kid.”

-

“Who says you can’t be cute and kick ass at the same time?” Kenji winks at me. “I do it every day.”

-

Kenji’s head pops up. “Obsessed with his physique, huh? You sure you two aren’t related?”

At this, Warner’s face sours. “I am not obsessed with m—”

“Okay, okay, calm down.” Kenji waves his hands around. “No need to worry your pretty little face about it.”

“I detest you.”

“I love that we feel the same way about each other.”

-

“Wait—tell me again why all these sheets are on the floor?”

At that, I pull the pillow away from my face. “Why do you think they’re on the floor?”

A second’s hesitation and then, “Oh, what—c’mon, man, what the hell.” Kenji jumps off the bed looking disgusted. “Why would you let me sit here?” He stalks off to the other side of the room. “You guys are just—Jesus—that is just not okay—”

-

“I don’t really know man,” Kenji says, and sighs. “I think, this time, you just have to deal with the consequences of your own stupidity.”

I look away, bite back a laugh, and nod several times as I say, “Go to hell, Kishimoto.”

“I’m right behind you, bro.” He winks at me. Just once.

-

I swallow, hard, feeling suddenly small. Feeling suddenly broken inside. My eyes sting and I fight back the impulse to cry. “You promise?”

“Hey,” he says softly. “Come here, kid.”

I take a tentative step forward and he wraps me up in his arms, warm and strong and safe and I’ve never been so grateful for his friendship, for his steady existence in my life.

“It’s going to be okay,” he whispers. “I swear.”

This is just a mild review.
.
I love the introduction of new character in this book well not new but daughters and son of supreme commander. I have a feeling they will be a big part of the series or the next installment.
.
So the information we learn about Juliette and her family is just.... out of this world.
Like Juliette spent her whole life thinking everybody hated her. Thinking her own biological parents despite her. Thinking she was all alone in this world. But then she found out that she has a sister. What’s worst is that Anderson knows. So he had selected Warner to torture Juliette’s sister.
.
My heart broken in half when Juliette ‘broke up’ with Warner. But I knew it was better this way, it was better that Juliette know.
But their relationship though. :( I’m quiet positive they could mend this, fix their problems. Well I hope so.
.
Kenji though. Omg’ Kenji is the best character every. His sarcastic remarks are amazing and the way he say by Warner side when Warner told Kenji everything about Juliette and what he discovered from castle.
I’ll never get tired of Kenji and he’s like the humor and the joy of reading this novel.
.
The ending though. It was so abrupt. I had no clue what was going on. Like Juliette scream? Then 600 soldier dies? Then her friends are also dead, other are left un-conscious or hurt? Then she was capture by ‘her parents’ (I assume)?
.
.
.
All in all, this was a good read. I would definitely say it’s better than Unravel Me, but Ignite Me is still more entertaining in my opinion.
