"I can read some of the words. I want to say about it, he was naked."

Possibly for a duck storytime. It is very similar to the story of the little red hen.

The story would be a four star story but for one thing, it unnecessarily and bluntly equates fatness to laziness.

Read aloud by lecturer:

I’ve read this many times to children in the nursery, but it was wonderful to have it read to me for once!

A classic child favourite that is almost forgotten about. Perfect for teaching children empathy, morals, and a healthy dose of rebellion.

One of my favorite books to read aloud. It has great illustrations, a story that flows well, and plenty of places for kids to participate in story time.

I never even heard of this one before but it was adorable. That poor duck did all of the work on the farm while the farmer stayed in bed sleeping or eating. What a lazy farmer making your animals do everything. I was glad when all of the animals on the farm ran the farmer off the land. I'm also glad he never came back. The animals had everything in hand and they really didn't need him anyway. Duck probably didn't mind the work but doing it all by himself and being bellowed at the whole time wouldn't make it very enjoyable. Once the farmer was gone everyone chipped in to help duck. I really love Helen Oxenbury. She did the illustrations for We're Going on a Bear Hunt too and I loved all of the beautiful, colorful watercolor illustrations. They showed all of the sweat and tears that poor duck poured into working the numerous jobs on the farm in all sorts of weather. I liked the fact that the animals didn't speak like humans because it made the story slightly more believable. The duck couldn't do most of that work, especially on his own, but it was a unique idea for a book. Ages 4-8
