It was interesting to read but I felt very disconnected from the characters. The translation reads very Western and if they hadn’t retained the Chinese units of measurement, it would’ve been more hard to differentiate it from western works. The level of suffering the main character endures is so immensely strange and I don’t know whether to feel sorry for him or urge him to speak.
