I wish I could give this book 10 stars! I loved every page of this book. The writing is fantastic and Stella is incredible. Even though it's only January I think this will be one of my top books for the year.
Read this book!

Again, another audio book I started on vacation. I can’t help but wonder if this book would have hit me differently had I been reading it. I’m new to audio books so maybe I’m overthinking.

This book is layered and thought provoking. A story of intense generational trauma. There are scenes from this book that I will think about forever, as they also traumatized me.

I cannot say whether or not I recommend this to anyone, but I did find it riveting and I couldn’t stop listening. But, I wish I could unhear some of it. I want to be naive to the terrible things. But, I know the terrible things are important to remember and to voice so they don’t continue for future generations.

Wow, Stella Fortuna. You will live forever in my brain.

DID NOT FINISH: 50%

I really tried to like this book but the pace was slow and the storyline was depressing.  I guess I should have figured it out from the title but I thought it would be funnier,  more uplifting.

Enjoyed parts of this book but it bogged down for me and got too depressing.

This Italian American immigrant story felt very authentic. The protagonist suffers through some incredible trauma. Some of which was common for the time. I also really liked the confident, feminist narrator.
