I’m pretty sure this book altered my brain chemistry, and it was something I least expected. I picked this up while browsing through items at a flea market while I was on vacation. I bought it because the cover seemed interesting and it was only three dollars. At first I was sure I was going to hate it, but it soon turned into something I struggled to put down. It was definitely longer than the books I usually read, with no defined chapters, so it took me a little while to finish it and honestly I didn’t want it to end. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster, and Stella Fortuna is a person I will never forget.

I didn’t like this book primarily because I’ve never read a book with so many unlikable characters. An Italian woman comes close to dying many times throughout her life and somehow doesn’t learn a lot from the experiences. The reader is monotone as well.
