My least favorite in the series: this volume more than any other in Alpha Tau suffered for having only one pov
And moreso because it was Casey
I love Casey, and thats the problem, because i liked him so much more than Briar it left me in the awkward position of thinking -multiple times- dude break up with Briar this guy is treating u like shit
And i stand by that
The reasons Briar had are valids but he still lied and hurt Casey multiple times and excuses are not magical wands that go back in time and take away ur shitty action my friend
Having had the pov for Briar would have balanced that out and YES we would have had to sacrifice the reveal…but honestly that would have been better
It would have felt like an earned conclusion if i had been sympathizing and feeling Briar struggle through the story
In the way it happened it felt to me like a ‘get out of jail for free’ card…and okay, dont get me wrong: i al SO GLAD the Alpha Tau boys stood by and did not further harm Briar with some stupid accountability bullshit but also…i dont like Briar by the end even if im happy he is happy now, the story didnt bring me there
So thats one thing
The other is the epilogue.
Guys, i have read the book, i was there, so why is the one chapter about Briar a glorified ‘this is what happened in the previous episodes’ recap?? Like 70% of the chapter was useless? I was fucking there
The ending with Briar struggling with the meeting the parents was cute and i dont understand why we didnt get to follow it a bit? Meeting the dad and the sister and the cat for real?? That would have been a lovely send off this is just boring and weird?? Might as well just had the ending be the last Casey chapter then
So basically im giving this 3 stars because it was a sweet story and i by no means hated it, but it feels a bit awkward to define it ‘fluffy’ and the relationship was not as wholesome at all! Casey was sweet ans wholesome and thats a completely different thing
I expect the next novel to be a little bit closer to this in tone, since its supposed to be Romeo&Juliet frat boys so i will adjust my expectations
Still: Marty and Squirrel are the MVPs of the whole series i fucking love them and Scout deserves another novella as protagonist at least! I said what i said.

- frat bros
- opposites attract
- hurt x comfort, ish
- communication issues out the ass

The Alpha Tau series has shaped up to be one of my favorites, but Casey and Briar's book fell a bit flat for me. Did I love that there was a femme frat bro? Absolutely. I didn't like the lack of communication and how misleading he was with Casey though, but I get why Briar was the way he was.

I think this may be the steamiest book of the series so far, with things getting hot and heavy pretty early on between the two rather, but outside of the physical chemistry between them, I didn't really feel that connection like I did with Archer/Eli + Marty/Dalton.

Regardless, this was still a great read and I loved all the frat shenanigans, and cannot wait for Charlie's book!

Not bad by any means, but I enjoyed the first two books a bit more than this one. I just didn't find that I really liked Briar which hampered my enjoyment somewhat.

Briar & Casey. Casey is the pledge master and briar is a pledge. I didn’t like this book as much as the others. It was a fun read but I didn’t connect with these characters as much

OMG Briar and Casey are so sweet.  I wanted to both hug Briar ( even though he’s a little prickly) and go to town on his parents.

The office sit down - OMG tears!

Loved that Casey was all in right from the get go - no wishy washy thoughts about his sexuality.

and well Marty ( we cant have a story without him) is so just perfectly himself!
