full of idyllic imagery, complexities and reflective attributes.

Kambili as someone who worships her father as almost god-like comes to terms with the abuse and the gaslighting and religious justifications for what he does. Adichie embraces freedom from this throughout the defiance towards the end of the book and after the events of palm Sunday

a beautiful read, like the rest of Adichie's works, as a debut I felt it was a compelling read, where this compellingness develops in her later works like Half of a yellow Sun and Americanah - characters are fleshed out and plot and characters are well constructed. Not to say this read wasn't. It was a very satisfying read in a sense.

A good read, still one of my favorite authors. This one was really dark at times, but Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie doesn’t shy away from complexity and I appreciate that
