really poetic, i see why people are drawn into his work but also can understand why this is not his most popular. a decent starting point in his ouevre that made me want to read more of his stuff more than i already wanted to. it fails on delivering a singular cohesive message beyond the surface level, i think. maybe too superficial/slapdash. but you get what he’s getting at anyway. kind of incel coded low key but the dark overtone-vibes were immaculate

I can't believe this book has such a high average rating on goodreads because unless I was missing something, this was a terrible read. I had no interest in any of the major characters, the formation of the gang, and how disturbed the young teen was. Many questions were never answered or even addressed, and while sometimes I like that in a book, I did NOT in The Sailor Who Fell From Grace with the Sea. Animal lovers will hate the scene with the kitten.
