Just when I thought I had a favorite couple in this series, Sophie Lark adds a new one to consider.

I really enjoyed the teasers of Riona and Rylan that we got at the end of Bloody Heart so I was really excited for their book and Broken Vow delivered. I was not expecting all the action, but if fit them perfectly. The change of setting from Chicago to Tennessee kept the series fresh.

Riona's spirit and will was compared to a horse and that analogy was just about perfect for her. She needs someone who recognizes her power and strength and will let her run. And Rylan perfectly bridges the gap between small town guy and man with a past. It was perfect.

Meh. Listened to the audiobook while I cleaned the house. Good book to pass the time but didn’t rope me in like the others in the series

Also how is it gonna work out? He wants marriage and kids, she doesn’t

So I don’t think this was a bad book, I really enjoyed Riona and Raylan’s story and the whole idea of him being her protector, hell yes I love trope. But there were certain parts (about Raylan’s family and all hos backstory) that seriously just draaaggged for me. I get that it was filling in his character’s story, but it was so in depth about his mother and as a character that I’d only met halfway through this book, I just didn’t care about her life in that level of detail.
But as usual now, plenty of steam, plenty of chemistry, and now I’ve only got one more book left in the series!

Broken Vow is the fifth book in the Brutal Birthright series. This book could be read as a standalone. This book is told from dual points of view by Riona and Raylan.

Riona is a strong heroine. However, when she is attacked in a swimming pool, her brother wants her to have a bodyguard 24/7. This bodyguard turns out to be Raylan. They had a rocky past, and she didn't want him around. He does his job.

As they are together 24/7 they get to know each other a lot better and feelings start to evolve. Can they find out who is after Riona? What will happen between the two when she no longer needs Raylan as a bodyguard? Will they get their happily ever after or will their futures send them separate ways?

I really enjoyed this book, and am excited to see what happens next in this series.
