Action packed from beginning to end. It's easy to fall into the world she creates of superheroes even if you're not that familiar with it (like me, who doesn't know much beyond the major blockbuster movies out there). A satisfying ending but leaves you eager for the second!

An interesting superhero story set in the 1960s. Superheroes, be they powered or gadget-based, are on the rise for the first time (basically), and with them dastardly villains with strength-inducing and fear-manifesting drugs. I especially liked the angle of the MC and her father, coming from an abusive situation in her childhood
Spoiler to having to use him as an informant in order to face the baddies
. The struggle for Alice seemed very real, cycling through fear and anger with no easy fixes. I also loved Marco and am excited that the next book focuses around him, though it looks like my ship may not turn out...
Marking this as 4 stars, though typos knocked it down a bit for me. Still, I've been sitting on this book for a few years and in the meantime it was rereleased, so the typos might be fixed if you get the latest version. Either way, totally worth checking out!
