Maybe not a solid five but I really enjoyed as an audiobook

Not what I thought it would be. Some of the characters annoyed me, Ines especially. The ending made up for some of that.

Melodramatic, sappy, heavy-handed, and predictable. There is only so much "why won't she say what's really going on?" that one plot can take. The story had such promise, but the story-telling was such a disappointment. This is essentially an awful Lifetime movie.

Emotional rollercoaster! Devastating parts, really amazing connections, all the feels.

I did not enjoy this one as much as The Book of Lost Names. I love the idea of the book more (more about the wine, France, World Ware II) but not the book itself. The characters are unlikeable, not that I have problems with that, but the choices and decisions made by them are something I did not agree. It is interesting how the wine-producing region in this part of France receives a small favor compared to there towns during the war. I feel this book is more of a romance/drama than historical fiction. I would prefer if the author dwell more on the Resistance, how they fight the Germans and the role of the region during the war. The ending pretty much wrapped up itself and the epilogue could have been skipped.

DNF at just around the halfway point. Really sweaty, tropey stuff, and it was a library book at the end of its term so...

I would’ve given this three stars, but I found the history so interesting and the ending was excellent.

This was a fun enough read, and I enjoyed the setting and characters. A bit predictable, and every little thing was wrapped up so nicely at the end, which I felt dumbed it down a bit.

You go the majority of the book picturing the grandma in one light and when the story evolves and the truth comes out, you see the grandma in a different light. The ending brings the story by connecting all the dots you wonder about. While drinking champagne, I will know think of the people and the history begin what families might have gone through.

So many layers! And chapter 34 had me bawling my eyes out. Beautifully written with wonderfully complex characters.
