One of the best books that I have ever read. Powerful and motivational, should be a must read on everyone's list!

Poor man's Kraukauer. That said, I actually thought he was a good writer. I just didn't like the sonofabitch.

This ones been on my to-read list for about the last five years, but jumped closer to the top when the movie came out (due to the must-read-book-before-see-movie-syndrome). I found it to be much more than I expected. . . less a tale of man cuts off his own arm and more a tale of what the human mind does to itself when put into the most extreme of situations for five days - yes it was 4 days before Ralston even got close to cutting into his arm. Elegantly told, with the first half concentrating on the adventures that had led Ralston to be in that place, at that time with the experience that he had, the second half concentrating on the search mission that was beginning. The sheer human-ness of it all bought me to tears several times during the reading. Part of me now can't wait to see the movie. Part of me really doesn't want to see the more graphic aspects of this tale outside of my imagination!
