very different from the movie but not in a bad way! whimsical but still very grounded in reality, a good ass witchy family story. super excited to pick up the next book in the series. also the movie casting was perfect.

I never did see this movie (though I intend to now), but I had been curious about Alice Hoffman. It had way too much profanity and sexuality for my taste, so I can't really recommend it. I probably would have rated it higher without those aspects.

I loved this story about family, women, magic and love ! The fact that this is following multiple generations made the story complete in a way I really enjoyed, my only complain is that I felt some of the plot was a little bit rushed, I would have prefered a longer book that took its time to go where it wanted to.
