How can Daniel and Bobby be not real and then real? Ugh, this was not it for me.

This is definitely a “read in one sitting” type of book, so that’s good. Listen, I love a trope. I love a cheesy Hallmark Christmas movie just as much as the next gal. This book is proof, though, that there is such thing as 1. Too many tropes and 2. Too much “It’s just the magic of Christmas” moments. I just kept thinking, “There’s no way she can…oh okay, she did…”
Here comes the spoilers:
1. It’s the sister-sleeps-with-the-husband, gets pregnant with his baby, and goes to sister’s house to “make amends” (invite her to her wedding…with the sister’s ex)
2. A PLANE CRASH on the way TO A TOWN CALLED HOPE???
3. A single Irish dad innkeeper and his grieving son? Yes, let’s stay with them, patch up their relationship, fix the inn, and make the moves on daddy
4. IT WAS A DREAM?! I AM IN A COMA?!
5. I WAS THE SON’S INVISIBLE FRIEND?!?!

SOS. Glad I didn’t have to commit to this book for too long.

This was cute!
A lil hallmark moment, with a fun twist.
It was definitely a little corny and you had to suspend A LOT of disbelief, but I also think that was kind of the point??
There were some tropes in here that it was really hard for me to get past; and I wish there was more romance then there was, but overall wholesome and cute.

WTF did I just read? There were a lot of things that were just off about this book. I almost DNFd after 70 pages because it seemed badly written with weird dialogue and interactions. Then it moved into a couple of clever chapters, and then it was weird again.

I have loved several KH books. I appreciate how far she has come.

This short Christmas book was full of holiday spirit, love, and magic, and lots of unexpected twists. Joy’s relationship with her sister and her ex was a little hard for me to get past as easily as she did, but the parts about her adventure were quite enjoyable.
