This was a very cute story. Kristen Hannah books circulate like crazy in my library system, so I figured this short, festive story would be a fun first read from her. It was definitely a cozy, nice time. I really cared about the characters, and Hannah did a good job at making Joy seemed as unhinged as she should be in these circumstances. I will say, Joy was kind of creepy, and some of her emotional arcs could have been a little more fleshed out. But the jumpiness of some of the narrative kind of works with what you learn is going on (no spoilers). Obviously, it didn't blow my socks off, but it was a nice quick read to add at the end of the year.

Meh. I definitely was gaslit into purchasing this book by the author and "a fable" in the front. I spent the 1st 60% annoyed and disinterested but the last 40% made it better. Very not the KH style I LOVE but im glad i can mark it as completed.

Out of my genre but I like Kristin Hannah’s books so why not it’s Christmas season. This was a quick read. Definitely not the author’s best work but it was ok.
