I can’t believe this comes from the author of The Nightingale and The Four Winds. It was ridiculous from start to finish, especially the “twist” and the simple forgiveness for the sister.

I'm generally not a fan of the holiday novels because they can get really cheesy, but was going through some emotional turmoil a week or so before going home for the holidays (me, emotional? SHOCKER) and read this in one sitting and it was exactly what I needed. Things escalate very quickly in the beginning, meaning there's not really a need for all that much character development before the meat of the story starts, and in this case it didn't bother me at all. I thought the idea was really clever and I did say, "oh no, oh no, oh no" out loud when I got to the first big twist, earning me some judgmental looks from my dog.
As someone who doesn't necessarily hold a grudge but is good at cutting people out if they do me wrong, I can't necessarily relate to the forgive-and-forget that goes on towards the middle and end but I guess that's what the spirit of Christmas is all about, so I'll allow it.

I was about 30 pages into this book and realized I had read it before. It must have been before I started tracking in Goodreads. Nice little Christmas story.
I laughed out loud at “read Kristin Hannah’s heartwarming “The Nightingale” at the end of this hallmark movie of a book.
