This book was terribly written. She overuses vocabulary (do a search for the word “wounded,” for instance.). So much of this book jumped the shark. How many ridiculous things can the lady live through. No chemistry was developed at all between the lead and the love interest. So so many weird things happen. Slight spoiler, but you are there by chapter 2. She is at this B&B and is playing with a strange kid and the parent is no where to be found. I cannot imagine just letting a stranger into my kids’ bedroom to wake him up. There was just too much wrong with this book for me.
The magic of Kristin Hannah’s storytelling did not disappoint in this novella. I really enjoyed this sweet story and didn’t see the plot twist of part 2 coming!
This book was awful. I should’ve put it down at page 50 but I kept hoping it would get better. After all, Kristin is a fantastic writer. If you’re a fan, skip this one.
I loved it. The perfect magical holiday story that had me in tears.
This book is sweet. Sure- some will say far fetched and unbelievable. Obviously. But just stretch and believe in the magic. It’s Christmas- we all can use a little magic! We follow the main character, Joy, as she deals with tough life stuff, a plane crash, and ultimately her recovery during which she learns the importance of forgiveness. Forgiving others and healing yourself. Not my favorite Kristin Hannah book but I’d still recommend when looking for a not-too-hallmark-y Christmas read.

A librarian-friend recommended this to me. I asked her for suggestions for my book club's December selection... one that was holiday-related but also a fast, enjoyable, light read.
This will definitely fit the bill. Depressing, hopeful, surprising, intriguing, and mystical. I finished it in just over 24 hours and loved every minute of it.
