Not a subject I was drawn to, but started this story just because of the good reviews.
It is so stunningly well written, perfect prose and just the right level of pathos. The raw honesty of living with cancer through the eyes of young people who refer to their “cancer selves” and even manage to show a respect for the disease because “just like me, it just wants to live”.
The sadness of Hazel’s “great and terrible 10 (pain)” balances with the unvarnished way that cracks on with what bit of life she has.
Fwooof!!
Heavy, but very very good.

Avoided this for a long time because the cancer kid stuff hit too close to home. Very glad I finally read it.

Wow. I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I just read a quick review. I love the way the main characters communicate with each other. I realize it's fiction, planned out, but part of me wants to believe these people exist and were literally put on this earth to find each other. Looks like I found a new favorite author. From my home state nonetheless!

Heartbreaking but beautiful. You learn a lot in this book and I am not shocked how popular it is. The characters are believable and I loved the theme.

This is an amazing book, but so sad. It is about teenage cancer sufferers. It is brilliantly written and actually says more about living than dying, but be warned, death is a main concern of this book.

I refuse to accept that this is over. This book completely wrecked me and has had me full on sobbing my eyes out for the past 30 minutes. It can’t be over, it just can’t.
I truly cannot recommend this book highly enough, it’s amazing. You become so attached to the characters and forget that you’re even reading. That said, prepare to cry.
