This was good. I went into it with very little context. So, oddly, I was pleasantly surprised that the author herself is a Christian women rather than just an academic studying this topic. Her personal experience only made the arguments more powerful.
I knew a lot of this information at a high level, but breaking down the history of women's representation in the bible in this way was both validating and maddening. I hope the actual intended audience for this books reads it and are set free.
My only qualm is that if you weren't part of the intended audience, people who know the bible quite well, there was some missing context and background information for some parts.

I've been egalitarian at heart for a long time, but on a journey of research to balance out the complementarian voices that were poured into me for so long. This is a really good historical step on that journey.

This book definitely wasn't written for where I am in my life or my current set of beliefs (former evangelical Christian, current agnostic atheist who doesn't believe in biblical inerrancy, sin nature, heaven, hell etc.) but it was really interesting to listen to a different point of view and to get an insight into what things Evangelical women are currently grappling with. I believe there are elements in this book that have the potential to result in some perception shifts. It's a book that will meet many Christian women where they are at and serve as a good jumping off point for believers to reflect on what they have been told and what they themselves believe.
