This is the third time reading this book, and it keeps getting better. Lewis paints some very vivid pictures of how a person can be disordered in their soul.

Very interesting, but written in a vignette style that is both hit or miss and too quick to resonate. This is written in an interesting metaphorical narrative style that is very firmly planted in its time. Much of it translates well to today, but some parts don’t make as much impact 80 years later. The clear sections, though, offer a lot of food for thought that make this very worth a read.

As with every other C.S. Lewis book, I walked away feeling that my eyes had been opened just a little bit more. What Lewis accomplished in 125 pages was far more effective than the hundreds of pages I’ve poured over when I read Dante’s entire Divine Comedy years ago. I highly recommend The Great Divorce.
