This is a first for me. I had to stop reading this. Brilliantly written, brilliant psychological depth, but it’s too much for me right now. My general anxiety was causing reactions to the book. I was avoiding reading it because of how stressed out it made me feel. And when the dog started dying from poison, it was all over, I couldn’t keep on. I’ve been on the precipice of despair myself on and off. Nothing as intense as Ferrante’s character here. But, well, the book felt too real and too dangerous for my health. So I stopped.

Recommended and borrowed from a friend. Incredibly frank writing. Quite stressful and full of resentment. I had to set the book down for a bit due to how violent the main character was behaving...yikes! I'd say that's more than ferocious. Definitely doing horrible things that would be better off as thoughts due to her stress. Engaging to read back-to-back in a day, though I found myself displeased with the way the novel concludes itself.
