Live love, breathe love and give love...
Whew! This story is classic Ilsa Madden-Mills!
This is the story of Ryker and Penelope. And what a refreshing story it is!
Penelope is a bit of a nerd, an outsider a force all her own. She knows this and she owns it and it makes her a brilliant character. She has a rough past and is missing an important person in her life. Her past molds her a bit into who she is now and how she relates to the people around her.
Ryker is fantastic, a bit of a "alpha-hole" when you first meet him. He's got swagger and he thinks he has the skills to make Penelope fall for him...oh does he have another thing coming!
This story is hilariously funny! From Penelope's romantic imagination (she's a bit of a history fan....) to her friends. From Ryker and his football team. The dialogue is witty and fast paced! But there is bit of angst and a whole lot of smexy times that will make you swoon!
This story, like all of her others is a page turner! It wouldn't let me put it down until I was finished with it!
Ilsa has a talent to create magic with her words and creates worlds I wish I could be a part of!

You were meant for me, he sends. I can’t breathe. Looking down at his words, I read them over and over, my heart pounding. Something has changed. I feel the shift in my heart, opening up.
Ryker Voss walks on water and is God's gift to women, and Ilsa is a God's gift to readers.
I Bet You was impossible not to love.

Fun and witty, Ilsa Madden-Mills gives us a quirky read with unique characters. The banter and the quick wit keeps you on your toes as Penelope and Ryker navigate some insane scenarios. We met them very briefly in I Dare You but these two explode in this story. Their chemistry is very evident regardless of how much both sides deny it. While there were moments that I felt there was unnecessary side moments, I have a feeling it is amping up for more books in the series and is paving way for that. They added to it slightly but the focus on Penelope and Ryker was intense. I love how much Penelope reminds me of myself at times. The lack of caring what people thing. Watching both of these characters develop in this story was awesome too! If you want a witty and unique sports romance, snag up this one.
"I bet you can't tap that, number one. I bet you can't score that girl before homecoming."

And it's this bet, issued by the creepy and evil Archer to Ryker the golden-boy quarterback, that sets up the premise of this hilarious, nonstop, and romantical novel. Truth is I initially put this book on my tbr solely because of the cover. It is hands down one of the hottest [contemporary] covers I've ever encountered--the side profile, his flexed arms, his mussed-up hair, his low-slung trousers.... Oh. My. But let it be known that judging a book by its cover has its merits because I found this lovely novel!
Ryker is the all-star quarterback of Waylon University--gorgeous, great arm, cocky as hell, and perfect. Except when he's linked to a football fighting ring and is exposed publicly in a collegiate article written by none other than our snarky and Twilight-loving heroine, Penelope. Even though Penelope ousted him, Ryker finds himself entranced by Penelope's take-no-crap attitude, while Penelope is equally infatuated by his physique and softer romantic side. The witty dialogue and snarky responses between these two is pure gold. I LOVED their interactions and the simmering sexual tension that sparked whenever they were around each other. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book so much as everything just meshed so amazingly well for me.
Overall, I definitely recommend this book. The witty banter was perfect, the characters were believable and hilarious, and I loved how there were historical romance references in this contemporary novel! Even though I was dreading the ending and the break-up scene, I ended up loving it. The drama wasn't drawn out or overdone, and Ryker is lovely at groveling and letting Penelope know how he feels. That Unicorn glitter lotion scene was just so cute and romantic! Where can I find a Ryker?!
One of my favorite quotes:
Blaze muses, "You'd have pretty babies together."
My eyes flare. "Are you drunk?"
He shrugs. "I've had a few, but just because I'm a football player doesn't mean I'm not romantic and shit." --Blaze & Ryker
My Ryker Voss, the Duke of Waylon and Sexy as Hell Athlete, and that famous towel scene... :)

I Bet You is a sports romance, and I'll start off by saying that betting books always always stress me out. That being said, even though I was a little stressed (as I am, whenever a bet is involved), it was just a tiny bit, and the the chemistry in this book really took it to another level.
Ryker is so charming, but he definitely has his flaws and stupid moments. Penelope is fun and smart and completely immune to Ryker's charisma. Obviously, that last part isn't quiteeee true. When the two spend time together as a product of Ryder's promise to help Penelope land her crush, an odd pairing becomes a friendship, and a little more.
It's a very sweet and well-written iteration of the unassuming girl and the godlike boy, and so it is definitely worth a read if that's the kind of trope you like!

I loved Ryker and Penelope! Ryker was such a good guy and he was perfect for Penelope. Penelope was smart and hard working and just nerdy enough to be my kinda girl! I loved her love of historical romance too. From start to finish this book was fab! Another great book in a great series!

4.5 Lollipop CROWNS
I Bet You by Ilsa Madden-Mills is NA romance perfection. Cocky, jock hero. A bit nerdy, confident heroine. A bet that is bound to go wrong. What could be better?
While Ryker was pretty much your standard jock QB, I did feel that he was lovable. There is enough back history to give us a bit of sympathy for his character, and the chapters written in his point-of-view reveal that hear of gold. Who really stole the show for me was Penelope. I just adored her whole character. She is quirky, authentically so, and she has real grit. Even when she wanted to fall apart she held herself together until she was alone.
The chemistry between them is great. I enjoyed the small does of antagonism and the quick friendship that formed between the two of them. It is light and fun, everything a college romance should be. The steam is a bit delayed, but when it happens and the way it happens was just perfect for their relationship and who they are. There are moments when their relationship and the story has a bit more of a serious tone to it, but it was interesting and engaging. These two are definitely the reason I enjoyed the story so much.
The plot, while paced well, is pretty clear from the get go, and there is little to no deviation from the expected story line. The conflict was expected, as well as the resolution. Does that mean I didn't enjoy it? Heck, no. I love a sports romance, NA romance, and this was just the ticket.
I really enjoyed this world and the cast of characters. I love the sentiment of family and the friendship to lovers storyline. I Bet You is fun and sexy, just pure romance entertainment.

Ok. I absolutely loved this book. From page 1, I wasn't able to put it down. I was only forced to put it down at 95% because I had to go to work. I was seriously tempted to push it to the last minute but I couldn't.
I loved everything about this book. I loved how Ryker and Penelope really didn't get along but he couldn't leave her alone and he couldn't keep his eyes off of her. And that she was drawn to him, even when she didn't want to be. How every time she was writing and working on her book, it was Ryker that popped into her head as the hero and not the guy she was crushing on.
I loved every moment between Ryker and Penelope. I loved how he was willing to help her get her crush even though he wanted her for himself. And I loved that he was willing to be a friend to her. He was just an awesome guy. And definitely alpha and awesome. And once they got together...PRICELESS.
Of course things blew up with Archer (the jerk) and the bet. But I loved that Ryker kept saying no to the bet. That he wasn't into it. Yes, he totally screwed up and said something he shouldn't have but...mistakes happen. I was glad that things were repaired between him and Penelope rather quickly.
Overall, this is another home run for Ilsa Madden Mills (sorry, I'm not an actual football fan so baseball phrases will have to do)!
