It's a fairly light read with decently loveable characters, but it takes nearly half the book to feel like the plot is getting anywhere.
The writing style is acceptable, could've used a little more vivid imagery and a more creative plot.
Solid as a first novel, but I'd need to see some evolution to pick up any of their future work.

The Octopus chapters really saved this from becoming just another novel. It was clever. I enjoyed the characters and this book was definitely easy to read. Enjoyable.

I want to rate this higher but I had a hard time with the first third of the book. Cameron’s first chapter dropped out of the sky and was really disorienting. He’s never mentioned in any synopsis I’ve read and during his first chapter I thought something wrong happened to my audiobook and I had jumped into an entirely different book.
I also wish that we had had some more Marcellus. He was so interesting and we only got him in bits and pieces.
However all that said, I really really enjoyed this and am so glad I listened to it!
