I don't know why it took me a while to realize it was about merlin. I think I must have missed something. I enjoyed corwin's narration/story more but this was still good once I caught on to what was happening.

I'm still not really sure how I feel about this whole series or Zelazny's writing. Things never feel quite flushed out and you always know that someone hasn't told you everything they know leaving you and the main character in the dark for no good reason. It always feels like contrived suspense. Also, I don't know how these were published as single books, the omnibus makes more sense since no book really has an ending except books 5 & 10.

I'll read this series more slowly over the year, between other books (except that I picked up the sequel because I was sick)

Début plus faiblard pour le second cycle, mais intéressant quand même, encore quatre volume avant de clôturer la saga, assez impatient de découvrir ça.

Finished "Trumps of Doom" by Roger Zelazny. What I liked immediately about this one is that in my perception, Zelazny writes with a different voice for Merlin than he did for Corwin, enough that it doesn't at all seem like the same story (which is a trap some authors can fall into when beginning a new series - I'm looking at you, David Eddings). The story itself seems to have evolved pretty independently but conforms to the same universe from the first series. Sadly, like father like son, Merlin finds himself subject to a very similar, imprisoned fate. Finally, is Ghostwheel the original Skynet?

Merlin seems smarter than his father, speaking of, where is Corwin?
Brand would be smart but he's crazy, and dead.
Where's Benedict?
This book did not have enough Fiona, because she is the best of all of them.
Also, i find it very rude that "Rinaldo" didn't have the grace to simply change the last letter of his name when living in the real world, because it made it very difficult to figure out who he was.
Is Martin the heir?
Why are there so many patterns?
The man called MERLIN is trapped in a CRYSTAL CAVE, how original.
