This is a classic read and it will hold that status forever. I decided to start my journey over with the release of the new books and it took me a while to get through Book 1 simply because I have read it before but make no mistake about it, it’s a 5 star read. Re-reading it just reminded me of how ruthless and savage Miamor and Mecca’s characters are. Ace’s betrayal still stung like it did the first time I read the book. I sincerely cringe whenever I think of Breeze, I hate her situation. She is the most innocent one dealing with the horrors of life. One thing that I didn’t consider during my first read that I am aware of now is how extremely strong Taryn was like sis lost almost everyone and still had to keep going with the ppl she had left.
I have absolutely fell in love again with A&J... I listened to this on audible. The Cartel was a good read. I’m loving Carter and Miamor. Mecca working my nerves but it’s good..
This was so wild!!! The drama and everything kept me on edge.
I was kinda over Urban fiction, but dang, these two have done a great job with this story! The suspense was on point. Some of the characters are just sick and ruthless. The torturing...Jeez! Can't wait to read the next book in this series. What a crazy cliffhanger! I need to know what happens next.
The family comes to terms with itself after it's patriarch is murdered is not untread ground. Not entirely sure why I don't like it, but I don't.
The start of a jaw dropping and heart stopping series. 10/10 recommend
The homophobia, rape, sexual assault, and beating of women in this book was insane. I would not recommend reading this book.
I couldn't finish this so soon after Teflon Queen, as the plot is very similar. The Cartel is much better written though, like, orders of magnitude better, and if you're looking to explore urban fiction this is probably not a bad place to start.
