If you love the grumpy sunshine trope this is for you. I really liked this story. Usually In a dark romance I find the love interest very unlikeable and toxic. I loved Alex Volkov. No cheating or REALLY toxic. Just enough to make it spicy lol. I’ve read this type of story so many times but I eat it up every time. Ava is so cute as well. Love a well constructed female lead. The smut…oh jeez. Amazing. The groveling is top tier and I can’t wait to read twisted games

“You are the light to my dark, Sunshine,” he said in a raw voice. His lips brushed against mine as he spoke. “Without you, I’m lost.”

“Don’t make a sound,” he warned. “This is an important call.”

“Consider it a lesson for the future. Pretty words and pretty faces don’t equal pretty souls.”

This book is about Alex and Ava. Alex has dealt with tragedy his whole life and is seeking revenge on the people who took away the ones he loves. But once he is forced to look after his best friends sister things start to change.
Ava is a free spirit with childhood nightmares haunting her. But only see’s beauty in the world even with her brothers best friend. The one she shouldn’t want.

This book was amazing. It was so enjoyable and the audiobook narration was great. I loved Ava as a character being innocent and not knowing much about her past life until Alex opened up her eyes and helped her. Alex is brutal and tough on Ava but they have both dealt with love and loss from a young age. Also the plot was great and kept me gripped.

Ummmm.... Did not like Alex at ALL. He thinks he OWNS Ava and tries to make her forgive him with presents. Likeeeeee what??

The book was okayy but I probably won't continue the series.

just because things could be worse didn’t mean they didn’t suck.

I had as much interest in ass-kissing and small talk as I did in injecting bleach into my veins.

Plausible deniability exists for a reason.

Pretty words and pretty faces don’t equal pretty souls

I didn’t think I had a heart before I met her, but she proved I did—it lay in pieces at her feet

I read this book in about 3 sittings within 2 days because I couldn't stop thinking about it! I really enjoyed the pacing, the setup for the other books, the romance, and the twists?! I mean the series is literally called "Twisted" so that makes sense, but I still gasped

What to expect: grumpy/sunshine, brothers best friend, photography

First person dual POV with some enemies-to-lovers, brother’s-best-friend, forced-proximity, and a healthy dose of “touch her and I’ll end you” thrown in.

I enjoyed the journey both MCs take on their personal growth, and the emphasis that these are their journeys to take alone as they need to be better for themselves before they can be anything for someone else.
Alex’s ending needed a bit more fleshing out, though; he doesn’t resolve any trauma and both MCs ignore his murderous and illicit tendencies.

Alex’s possessive traits are an acquired taste and I found them unsettling.
While I appreciate the effort to prove his love; stalking is stalking.

I’m looking forward to seeing the development of other relationships in the future books, namely Josh and Ava’s
as the saga with Michael continues
and Bridget. I do hope there is more substance to Ava’s other friends, though, as I found them inherently unlikeable.
Especially after their plot to try to make Alex ‘feel’; that was cruel and insensitive to say the least.

There are a lot of context warnings in this one. ⚠️
