The antiquated writing is not my jam and made the book hard to read for me. But the story was cute and clever and punctuated by witty humor, so will adjust up to 3 stars on account of that. I imagine if you like Jane Austen, you’d probably like this a lot too. And 200 pages is not a huge investment.
Es el típico libro que en teoría me tendría que haber gustado, pero no he conectado nada con la historia. Gente muy pintoresca y poco más.

“The fact is, dear, that if Mrs. Beecher were a Borgia she could hardly be more successful—”
“It simply won’t do for me to be fed by the German army, and I shall never be able to make them understand about my insides. I know Germans.”
This book is full of charm and humor and I often found myself chuckling as I made my way through Linda’s tumultuous young love life, but something about the character Davey truly tickled me each time he appeared. I’m afraid I’ve developed a bit of a crush. Something about his constant worry over his diet and his fondness of anything sweet endeared him to me, could you imagine a more marvelous pseudo stepfather? (I’m sure you could, but this is my fantasy.) I’ve always loved reading about the Mitford sisters and reading Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love provides the audience with a glimpse into the wonderfully silly yet daunting world they lived in. The book is centered around Linda Radlett as she makes her way through two marriages and an affair, and while I absolutely adored reading about the character, I couldn’t stand the way she spoke about her daughter, Moira! I think Linda seemed a bit more like the Bolter than Fanny allows herself to admit. The characters all come alive in the page and even as the world pushes towards war the signature humor remains right until the bitter end.
