Loved this, it was like a more literary beach read. While sometimes the reader was kept too much in the dark - I would have rather found out sooner what happened and dealt with the outcome a bit more fully at the end, which felt a little rushed - this was great. I may have done without Bianca’s perspective and let her story come out through Miranda, as Bianca was the only time change that really ever took me out of the story. I appreciated that this FELT like a book from the 1950s, with the pacing and the language.

A quick read and palate cleanser after a heavier novel. Rich people and their problems set on an island. An affair, a murder, a wrong being righted.

This was not my favorite Williams. Maybe it was tracking the three time periods, maybe it was the fact I didn't find any real depth in the characters (and their personalities didn't make up for the lack of substance). I had more fun looking up info on Fisher's Island.

Maybe a 3.5 rating. It took a while to keep all the people and the three time settings straight. While it was an interesting story, many of the characters were very unlikable. I figured out who the real murderer was fairly early on but I still wanted to see it through and it kept me up past my bedtime.

DNF within the first half. I started this a while ago and then my library loan ended and I didnt feel like I needed/ wanted to continue the story and when I got it back to it I didn't really care about the characters or the rest of the story

Riveting. This has a bit of a different feel to it than the author’s previous books... I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s different.

A fast-paced story with a host of interesting characters and a mystery spanning two generations. I really enjoyed this book, as is evidenced by the fact I read it in one day! (I’ve been waiting for months for this to come out, tried three times to win it on Goodreads, July 10 finally came around and now it’s all over!)

There’s such a trend for dual-timeline stories but only our Beatriz can pull it off with finesse and fluidity. I definitely recommend this book.
