If you're looking at getting started with Nagios Core, or have inherited a system from someone else, then this book will walk you through the steps to either implement it or understand how it works.

Takes you from basics up to monitoring and alerts using "recipes" that break down the steps into logical sections.

Most of them can be found online (I think the book is also available free online), but this is a handy reference to keep at your desk.

Good for flicking through to get ideas about where you could go next, or to get specifics about what you are trying to achieve.
