Matt Wesoloski possesses what I would call an exceptional skill for creating a gripping thriller that maintains an exhilarating pace throughout. He consistently delivers action and immersion to readers in a dark and twisted setting surrounding an unsolved crime. This time, the elusive crime podcaster Scott King returns to investigate the case of Alfie Marsden, a seven-year-old boy who disappeared into the woods on Christmas Eve in 1988. Through his podcast, Six Stories, Scott King interviews the five individuals closest to the case, revealing secrets, unresolved issues, and an unsettling ambience surrounding the Wentshire Forest Pass, and maybe, just maybe, Scott King will be able to uncover the truth about what truly happened to young Alfie Marsden after all.
As the third novel in the Six Stories series, I approached Changeling already familiar with the writing style and excellent prose that Matt Wesolowski wields. Changeling is no different; however, this novel shines above the others thanks to its incredible twist and well-crafted character arcs and personalities. While the core of this novel is rooted in thrills and unease, Changeling channels a very important subplot of family and touchingly conveys these themes. It felt so well encapsulated that I'm already tempted to re-read this novel with an awareness of the twist, just to once again revel in how incredibly well executed it was.
As always, Scott King is a fantastic narrator, both in and out of the podcast episodes for Six Stories, and he tells a compelling tale in Changeling. To say that every book in this franchise has both surprised and wowed me is no small feat, and I look forward to reading the fourth, fifth, and sixth novels to once more be immersed and engrossed in what I know will be outstanding stories.

BEST FRIGGIN BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!! OMG!!!! I DID NOT SEE THAT ENDING COMING! YA'LL NEED TO READ THIS!!!
Changeling is the third novel in the series and the format continues to work perfectly, but the emotional pull of the narrative has seen a step change. I missed Hydra, the second instalment, so I cannot say whether the trajectory has been consistent but although the original was a gripping thriller this story of the disappearance of seven-year-old Alfie Marsden is a fist around the heart, relentlessly squeezing until the final devastating release.

Another excellent experience. Lots of thrills, twists and feeling the creepiness take over when reading and even has an important message as well.
