I read this via audiobook. I loved hearing Carrie Fisher's voice and hearing how she delivered the jokes she wrote. However, this didn't really "feel" like a book to me which makes sense since this is her stage play Wishful Drinking but in book form. I understand the want to turn Carrie's play into a book so more people can have access to the story. But, Wishful Drinking doesn't feel like it fits this medium well. The tone was a bit too conversational, lots of tangents and the stories were a little all over the place.
What saved Wishful Drinking for me was listening to Carrie read this, rather than physically reading it. It was easier to follow along with her tangents and her very dry and sarcastic humour was able to come across to the reader. I feel like I would have lost a lot of this book if I read a physical copy because again, it isn't really a book but more of a conversation.
