First, Ann Patchett, thank you for selecting this book for me to read. Your foreword is spot on. This is a treasure to find and read.
I do not want to spoil this short marvelous read so all I will say is that this is not simply a good read, it is a marvelous read.
Hope you all take time to find a copy at your local independent book store.

This book transported me to another time and place. It’s about secrets and loneliness, and could be read in one sitting.

A beautiful little book.

Enda and Kevin have an interesting story.
Why do we judge?

Just the kind of book I like, short and excellent, very well written, and about life, without over-dramatization. Plus the added aspect of reading about another culture is always interesting.

A little gem of a compelling read.

Highly recommend reading this wonderful novel in one sitting!

I am still thinking about this book. It appears to be about an Irish priest and his reaction to two things. First, the death of a parishioner and second, his opportunity to fish the last day of the salmon season.

I am not sure I understand why these are the two things that Haien sees as worthy of a story. Yes, some unexpected events are told through these two stories. But how are they related? Why are these tales important? Do they tell us something about the priest himself? About the church?

I just don't know what I think of the story. I really liked the language, the setting and what I learned. It has certainly stuck with me.
