1.5 stars is generous and only because of the quality of the writing and prose. I wanted to throw this book against a wall more times than I could count (not in a good way) (disclaimer I might be biased by having to read it for school and my life at the time)

Even after seeing the movie and knowing how it ends, that ending is still a slap. Briony is insufferable, the end.

POV: multiple third person, one first person

You can expect: family, lies, estrangement, wartime (World War II)

Rep: migraines

CW: sexual assault (off page, not described), horrors of war, war injuries, scenes in a war hospital

As the eldest of three sisters, this book really really cuts deep. I don't know how I would respond in the situation of these characters. Brilliantly written I say!

That library scene.

YUM.
