This book covers physical abuse of women in relationships and transgender  challenges.   Lessons are compared to honeybees as one of the characters is a beekeeper.   It’s not a fun book.  It’s serious and brings awareness to two very conflicting issues.

SpoilerSo much yes. This book was incredible and so gut-wrenching. It’s a portrait of a mother and her son, belief and doubt, and suffering behind closed doors. The author wrote about motherhood in a way I could access despite it not being something I have experienced, and likewise for the life of a transgender youth. It is an important glimpse into family, love, pain, loss, lies, the criminal justice system, and of course, bees! I devoured it, it broke my heart, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
