Moving memoir about what it's like to love a deeply flawed animal. I've had a couple dogs in my life that reminded me of the author's dog Beija. From Rupert the biter, to a beagle/basset mix that my dad referred to as "Dummy Dog." I'm not afraid to say I got a little teary eyed by the end.

I really enjoyed reading this graphic novel. It is the first graphic novel that I have picked up on my own (outside of class) and I was inspired to read it after reading Calling Dr. Laura.

I feel like this story hits home for any animal lover. Our animals become such important figures in our lives and I found it really touching to see Beija's story highlighted over the course of this story.

It was a quick read, I finished it in only one day. I enjoyed being able to become fully immersed in George's storytelling and I came out of reading with a reminder of the importance of the relationships we build with others (whether or not those others are necessarily human).

Short and sweet coming-of-age-ish book about a girl and her “bad” dog. My dog & best friend of 12 years died last year and the ending hit hard. I am not an emotional person but I was fighting back tears. Very relatable and charmingly illustrated.

This book was very enlightening, holding true to the saying; People are in our lives for a reason if only for a season. The same can be said, for pets and definitely people. The folks that come and go, in the span of this book are both kind and not so kind, while Beija continues to just be a dog (tiny and attack). I am sure many people can relate to Nicole’s story. I found it brave that she told it and I hope other readers learn from the subtle lessons.

3.5 stars. Heartfelt and heart wrenching, also full of trigger warnings.
