Pillaging and biking

I enjoyed this utterly bizarre tale of a future earth with Vikings on bikes and all sorts of craziness. Effortlessly PA Douglas creates a unique post apocalyptic landscape, a group of Vikings that Leif Ericsson would be proud of, and a showdown of epic proportions. Recommended.

THE BIKINGS by P.A. Douglas is a pretty straight forward Bizarro story and I really enjoyed it for that. This was my first P.A. Douglas book and I wish I'd picked up the reclusive writer sooner. He may be more known for his post apocalyptic stories but this book makes for a wonderful introduction to anyone not familiar with Bizarro fiction.
THE BIKINGS is fun but not over the top weird. The story has a wonderfully weird but simple premise: A Viking and his sentient bicycle find their way in the post-Fukushima apocalyptic world. Easy, elegant storytelling.
THE BIKINGS isn't going to break down any social barriers or act as a vangard of new modern literature. Instead, you'll read a solid Bizarro tale from a solid Bizarro author. I'll be adding this to the list of perfect gateway to Bizarro books to read
