I've always love Chinese historical fantasies like this so I picked it up last year right after reading the little snippet on the back cover but I can't get past the first 70ish pages. Just picked it up again to give it a second chance but oh.. The writing style is just not for me :)

PLEASE BE AWARE THE AUTHOR PLAGIARISED ANOTHER WORK IN WRITING THIS NOVEL.

the original story belongs to the author of Peach Blossom Debt (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31159075)

i didn’t know this prior to reading Tang Qi’s version so despite enjoying the story, i can only give this the lowest rating i can give.

Although it was hard to follow the plot with each character having several different names, roles and reincarnations somehow I was still interested in following the main character's journey- I enjoyed the different style of story telling

When I started reading this book, I wasn't aware of the plagiarism scandal. I'm glad I got this book for free on a promotion!

So, no star.

I read this book after watching the TV shows (Eternal Love / Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms). I really, really love the TV shows. The actors/actrices are brilliant and the cinematography is so beautiful. So I thought, why not read the book to understand the story better?

To my surprise, the book is only from one POV. It was written in quite a dry style, without much description at all. I doubt that I'd have understood anything if I haven't watched the show. I missed all the feels and roller coaster emotions I experienced from the TV show.

The show also follows the book pretty accurately (except that they omit every LGBT reference), even most dialogues in the book are taken word for word. We also got to see more POVs in the show and therefore understand the depth of Ye Hua's love, and Su Jin's evilness.

So, for those interested in this story, skip the book and just watch the TV shows. You can watch it with English sub on Youtube:

The drama and the novel have to be seen and read together. What a beautiful story!

It was a free book I started, was interesting but haven't been compelled to revisit.
