Portis has penned a humorous account of a cult of dreamers, but the book, like its characters, doesn't end up anywhere. The narrative wanders and arrives nowhere, and while entertaining, it ends up a little flat and deflated when all is said and done. Portis wields a deft hand with the language, and it is fun to watch him work, but if you want to get lost in a story, go elsewhere.
adventurous funny fast-paced
