This board book retells "The Princess and the Pea" very simply, with colorful and racially diverse illustrations. I thought it was fine, but I wasn't particularly impressed, since the story is so rushed that it was never entirely clear that this was an ordinary girl whom the queen mistook for a princess. The book seems to end on the note that yes, indeed, this is a True Princess, without the irony and subversion of the original tale.
