This was a fun book, though I have to also say, it became a bit repetitive.

Most of this book is about Uncle Morton's dragon who is staying at Edward's place while Uncle Morton is on vacation. However the dragon isn't that kind or friendly, and repeated mails to his uncle regarding the dragon go unanswered and after a while I just got tired of the dragon who just didn't seem to do anything. Well, nothing, he pooped, he burned stuff, he broke stuff, he chased cats and so much more. It amazes me there was still a house after everything they went through, and that they were still wanted in the neighbourhood.

And then we have the magical solution to all your problems. I won't say what, but I was just rolling my eyes at the easy convenience of it all. I know, I know, it is a kids book, but that doesn't need to be an excuse for it to be this simple.

I did like that the book was written in emails, instead of the normal way of narrating we have a email a day to Morton, detailing what happened that day and what the dragon did. Nearing the end we finally have the mysterious uncle emailing back. Though it was a bit strange that he never could have thought to check his mail. I mean, you leave your DRAGON with your family and you don't care to check your mail to see if they have any questions? Or that they need help?

I felt sorry for Edward's sister, losing her pet bunny like that. :(

Also what is up with the responses of people when they are called about a dragon? I know dragons are rare, but seriously, apparently not so rare if someone has them and even says there are more of them. Why didn't they even care to take a look? Just pass by, if it is nothing, then it is nothing and you just go back to work, otherwise you have a fun meeting with a big dragon. I can imagine that if dragons are normally not kept as pets it might be a bit weird, but in this case, apparently there is someone (and probably more people) keeping these as a pet.
Maybe just me, but I just thought it weird.

Also what is Uncle Morton's job? He got money, he got a dragon, he got everything. I am kind of curious about what he does.

There are also illustrations and I have to say that they were really fun to look at. They made the book come alive more and also made sure that I kept on reading to find out what would happen to the dragon.

Would I recommend this book? Mm, tricky, on the one hand this was a fun book and I had some laughs. I also enjoyed looking at the illustrations. But on the other hand, it was repetitive, the solution was a bit too easy, and not much is explained.

First chapter book, larger print, space between lines, lots of pictures. This funny, quirky story is written entirely in letters. A boy writes to his uncle about the dragon he has been left to babysit, and who is getting crankier and more destructive by the day. What should he do about him? How can he control him?

Great pick for reluctant readers.

Interesting concept (story told through emails), just an okay story.

Really darn cute. Uncle Morton has left his pet dragon at Eddie's house while he is on vacation. But he forgot to leave directions and the dragon is causing a lot of damage. Told through email correspondence this book is just right for early readers. Loved it ;0

Funny little book about a boy and his family who have to take care of his uncle's dragon, who is out of bounds. The uncle won't answer the boys e-mails. Funny short read, but there's no real twist at the end, which I'd have expected.

Good concept, but just too slight. It wasn't as funny as I wanted it to be and almost the entire second half of the pages included in the volume are a preview of the next book and ads for other LB books. The actual story is only 54 pages. So. Just a pretty slight story. However, I think this is a quick, easy read that kids will still enjoy, particularly kids just graduating to longer books (hard to call this a "chapter book" since it's comprised of emails and not really divided up into chapters, although you could say that each email is kind of like a little tiny chapter).

First book in the Dragon sitter series with a half baked out of his mind uncle leaving his dragon with is nephew and hijinks ensue. Strange, weird and OTT but still enough fun to be had with it, quite brief.

Fans of zany antics such as The Bailey School Kids, My Weird School, The Creature from My Closet, and The Imaginary Veterinarian will be pleased to know that another series is right up their alley. The Dragonsitter by Josh Lacey kicks off the adventures of Eddie as he looks after his Uncle Morton's pet dragon. The book takes the form of Eddie's frantic emails to his uncle after the pet dragon has been dropped off for pet-sitting while Uncle Morton is on vacation. Each day that Morton is out of town, Eddie sends at least one email with attached pictures to describe the new trouble the dragon has caused. Things like singed curtains, stinky dragon poop on Mom's bedroom rug, and a hole in the refrigerator door, all cause Mom to threaten sending the dragon to the zoo or disowning her brother.

After 6 days of mayhem (including a slightly toasted mailman and the fire department), Uncle Morton finally writes back. His silence for most of the week seems suspicious. He doesn't answer his email, he isn't at the hotel he left them as his destination, and they can't seem to track him down. Has he left the dragon with them permanently? Did he lie to them about where he was going so that they couldn't call to tell him about all the trouble? Has he been kidnapped?

I would say that this would be a great read-aloud, because it is so funny and will have kids rolling in the floor with tears of laughter running down their faces. But I would hate for anyone to miss the illustrations of the dragon sprawled on the couch or of Mom holding a handful of bills for all the damage the dragon has done and all the groceries he has eaten. And Eddie's profile pics in each email are a great clue to his state of mind for each message.

Other books include The Dragonsitter Takes Off, The Dragonsitter's Island, The Dragonsitter's Party and The Dragonsitter's Castle. And a new installment is coming in January 2016 - The Dragonsitter to the Rescue. If you haven't tried out any of the Dragonsitter adventures yet, you need to do so.

I received a copy from the publisher for review purposes.

I wouldn't recommend this book for under 7's personally.
