I went into this expecting to love it and I was right. I was a little worried about starting with the second-to-last book in the series, but as a standalone, it works very well. There were characters and storylines that obviously were meant to be resolved in other books, but they didn't confuse me or make me feel like I was missing out on anything.

I wasn't super fond of Brandon's push and pull, but given the direction of his storyline, I eventually understood it. Regardless, it was frustrating asf at the time.

These two are. Whoo. They are intense for each other. Jealous, possessive, murderous. It's all very sweet.

Nikolai's rabid golden retriever energy is all I live for and the way he is immediately all in for Bran just makes my heart flutter.

The conversation the day after they go all the way for the first time had me kicking and squealing like you would not believe. I love them.

The spice manages to be unique and *very* spicy every time, despite the fact that the bottom never gets the chance to top, which is something I've come to look forward to in MM books where one or both MCs have only been with women. That's just a personal like, though so I didn't hold it against the author.

All in all an okay story with decent writing, A+ characters and fantastic spice.

I absolutely loved this book. Nikolai and Brandon were everything. They are my absolute favorite couple from this series.

The mental health representation in this book was amazing. I can't tell you how much I cried while reading this.

My thoughts on Landon have also changed after reading this. I didn't dislike him as much of at all now that I've read this. I loved seeing him and Brandon reconnect and become close again.

I also really loved the scene where Nikolai and Landon join forces at the end when it truly mattered. I just can't hate Landon now that I've read and understand why he was so distant with his siblings(mainly with Brandon).

I probably have more I can say about this. But I can't put it all into words. But just know that I devoured this book. I did not want to put it down at all. I can't recommend this enough. But absolutely check the triggers before reading.

I seriously hate this book! The amount of times I rolled my eyes and the frustrations I felt while reading was a lot. I almost lost my mind when one of the characters said he was raised to respect women but at the same time calling them “holes” and that their only purpose is to be used… but then again, Rina Kent isn’t really known to love women in her stories.

With that said, I still give this book 2 stars because I couldn’t quite dnf it. Whenever I was ready to give up on this book (whenever Nikolai talked to his dick) I was somehow sucked back in and wanted to know what happened next. However, this book was too long especially since it didn’t really have a plot until the last 20% of the book.

The royal elite series had me in a chokehold a few years back which is why I was confused about not liking Rina Kent’s legacy of gods series. I’m not sure if she changed her writing or if it’s a me problem. Most likely it’s a me problem and the fact that I’m longer interested in reading about spineless fmcs and misogynistic mmcs. Since this is Rina Kent’s first mm book I’ll cut her some slack. Nevertheless, you’ll find much better mm books out there than this book.
