The story in this book was very good. The characters were fine. My problem with the book is the BDSM scenes were prolonged and just not my thing. I actually think I would like this author if she chose to write another kind of book.

Idk why I keep reading erotica. It's never very good.

Yeah, I read it again.

Yeah, I read it again.
The first half of this book was perfect! It was about the mafia and the mafia dynamics within the household. The second part of the book was mostly centered on sex clubs and BDSM and I started to lose interest after that. It was alright...

I mean gdamn Kresley Cole. What a book.
My only complaint is that I actually wish there was more plot and less sex lol. I wanted to know about what was going to happen with the Russian mafia!
Instant fireworks from the start. That naked bath masturbation scene. Then the cornfield. The PLANE. The library. The BANYA omg. Of course the freaking CLUB in Paris too. And then after Natalie tries to run. Jfc Kresley!!!!
Natalie is a PhD history student in Nebraska. She's been searching for her birth parents for years, until one day a huge tattooed deadly looking Russian, Alexander Sevastyan, shows up and kidnaps her in her bathrobe to take to Russian. She's a mafia princess of a powerful man, Kolokev(sp?), who she and Sevastyan affectionately called Paxan. She grows close to him over a few weeks and also to Sevastyan physically as she was a virgin but discovers she has an extreme bondage kink that she shares with him. But then Paxan is killed by his nephew? Filip, who was deeply in debt and wanted the bounty. Everyone is then after them so Sevastyan and Natalie take an escape yacht and make their way to Paris where they lie low for a few weeks. More extreme sexual encounters occur and their relationship constantly is challenged as he is closed off from her. He does reveal that a letter Paxan wrote basically blessing their union but making it seem like Sevastyan should treat her with care, and not BDSM her. She's like omfg stop I want it and you're doing more harm by not giving me that.
But he still is pretty much keeping her locked away in this apartment and its only when Maxim shows up one day and reveals he's his brother that Natalie is like WTF he has a brother!? She attempts to fly home but he gets her in time. It's finally this last attempt that he reveals his backstory - that he murdered their abusive dad by pushing him down some stairs but this was only after years of taking beatings while trying to protect his 2 younger brothers, Maxim and Dimitri. After that he goes on the run, thinking he's wanted for murder (although Maxim actually lied and covered for her), lives on the streets for a couple years where he's physically and sexually abused, before Paxan found and took him under his wing.
I freaking love that Jess is her internal moral compass and their wisdom of ABC - Always Be Crazier. Lol perfect.

I like the story. The first half of the story is interesting for people to read.
However, I’m not going to lie that the other half of the story is a bit too slow for my taste. I feel like they’re going in circles. Though the ending is good, you have to be patient for these characters to get to understand each other.
Overall for me it’s 3.5/5
