Wow, throw together a super-hot Russian (yes please!) with long-ish hair (double yes please!) and a fiery feminist redhead and there is nothing but fan-yourself passion here! I'm not usually a re-reader...even of books that I love. But The Professional is one that I can guarantee I'll be seeking out again! Whew.

Kresley Cole is one of my favorite authors, I will support her no matter what genre she writes.
The Professional is definitely different for her, the story is pretty cut and dry - sexy Russian bodyguard, pretty girl that brings him to his knees, etc. I cant say that this is a favorite for me, but it's also not the worst out there - it's so-so.
This book is definitely for mature audiences, it bypasses romance and is a straight up erotic romance so please keep that in mind when considering reading this.

The last ~1/3 of this book was unnecessary and I ended up skimming it.
I love Kresley's Immortals After Dark and Arcana Chronicles, but I just couldn't get into this book. I finished it but only just.
Good, compulsive BUT...as with some of Kresley Cole’s other books, I take issue with her plucky, ‘independent’, ‘strong’ heroines who are anything but. They give the guy mixed signals, push him to open up and concede to their own demands (with feminism, it’s meant to work both ways ie. being equal)& they also hold back, trying to deny their attraction in order to cling onto the life they know. Newsflash: life only moves when you move with it. You can’t fall in love without taking a risk, everyone knows that; except these characters? And here I was thinking they’re supposed to be all smart, strong & independent etc...(eyeroll) I personally liked the best friend character more, at least she was straight up.
I enjoyed it, good story, atmosphere and loved Alejsandr Sevastyan. The BDSM rep was believable and LOVED that both subspace and aftercare were mentioned (don’t know about the club bit being believable but I’ll go with it as it’s a story after all) One thing though: it would be nice to come across a story with BDSM where the people aren’t ‘damaged’ or had past trauma. People like what they like, kink shouldn’t always be associated with psychological issues and trauma.
That said, it was enjoyable. I would have enjoyed it more if the heroine wasn’t so idiotic & annoying. Women aren’t like that in real life (thank god) well, none that I’ve met anyway...so Kresley Cole should come up with something more substantial to build the angst, other than character indecision because it gets old, fast.
